Testing a razor component

I have a razor component MyRazorComponent like this

@if(MyModelList is null)
{
     <some spinner>
}
else
{
    foreach(var val in MyModelList)
    {
        <div id="ModelsTable">
             <table>
                  <tr>...</tr>
                  <tr>...</tr>
                  <tr>...</tr>
            </table>
        </div>        
    }
}

MyModelList is populated in the OnInitializedAsync method like

protected async override Task OnInitializedAsync()
{
     MyModelList = someService.GetModels(some parameters);
}

I mocked all the services I used on the razor component. But whenever I test it using

var cut = RenderComponent<MyRazorComponent>();
cut.Find("div[id = ModelsTable]").MarkupMatches(@<div id="ModelsTable">... some test html mock ...</div>);

or

var cut = RenderComponent<MyRazorComponent>();
cut.WaitForAssertion(() => cut.Find("div[id = ModelsTable]").MarkupMatches(@<div id="ModelsTable">... some test html mock ...</div>), TimeSpan.FromSeconds(1));

I can only see the spinner and not the table. I added await Task.Delay too but that still doesn't render the table. Is there anything I am missing? Any help would be very much appreciated.

Hi @ntml9717,

Try setting a breakpoint in your OnInitializedAsync method and see if your someService.GetModels ever returns. That will help you determine if your mock is set up correctly or not.

I think it might be related to signalr. It exits OnInitializedAsync after hitting the signalr call await hubConnection.StartAsync();. Does bUnit have a way to mock this or do I have to incorporate TestServer class for this?

Edit: I moved the await hubConnection.StartAsync(); to end of OnInitializedAsync and now it hits everything inside it. Tried testing to see if MyModelList is present by doing
var myModelList = cut.Instance.MyModelList and it has values. But the markup doesn't change when I checked with var markup = cut.Markup;

It worked! Turns out that I had to re-render the component again using cut.Render(); and use Task.Delay. Thanks for the guidance!
