Please confirm these before moving forward

  • I have searched for my issue and not found a work-in-progress/duplicate/resolved issue.
  • I have not been informed if the issue is resolved in a preview version of the winget client.

Category of the issue

Installation issue.

Brief description of your issue

Maxon.CinebenchR23 - Deployed package does not read libraries from the appropriate location

Steps to reproduce

  1. Open a Windows Terminal in Admin mode
  2. Run winget install Maxon.CinebenchR23
  3. Restart the Windows Terminal
  4. Run cinebench

Actual behavior

Dialog showing a missing library libmmd.dll appears.
image

Seems to be an error in the WinGet link generated at C:\Users\[User]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WinGet\Links\Cinebench.exe, as the application is not running within its current path - as it is only a symlink. The app works when it's run from the actual folder C:\Users\[User]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\WinGet\Packages\Maxon.CinebenchR23_Microsoft.Winget.Source_8wekyb3d8bbwe. The "missing" library is from an Intel C++ Runtime v19, which is not readily available to download from Intel's website.

Expected behavior

Cinebench R23 should open.

Internet searches suggest libmmd.dll might be related to the Intel Math Kernel Library (MKL). This package isn't currently in the repo.

Sorry, I'm late providing additional commentary on this. The libraries are within the CinebenchR23 folder the package gets deployed to, however these libraries are not loaded as the program can only be started through the symlink generated (i.e. cinebench on a console), which runs in the context of the current folder.

Not sure if I'm reading this right, but this would require to change the way Packages without installers are deployed. Referencing file links (i.e. lnk) instead of symlinks. Are there any plans to look at that mechanism?
